On December 9, DECIDE participated in the second Public-Private Working Group on the State of Artificial Intelligence in Spain, convened by the Directorate General for Artificial Intelligence (DGDIA), in its role as a member of the AI-Network Advisory Board. The session served as a strategic forum to strengthen collaboration between public institutions and the private sector, fostering the development of a robust, responsible European AI ecosystem aligned with real business needs.

A space to build the future of AI

Chaired by Aleida Alcaide, Director General for Artificial Intelligence, the session brought together representatives from public institutions and leading AI companies within the association’s Advisory Board. DECIDE was represented by Manuel del Barrio, Chief Business Development Officer, and Begoña López, Marketing Director. The discussion focused on advancing European AI alternatives to reduce technological dependencies and better support SMEs and public sector organisations.

In this context, Alcaide highlighted the urgency for Europe to strengthen its own capabilities in an increasingly competitive global landscape, as well as the need to move towards an innovation model grounded in strong public–private collaboration.

The priority must be to develop European technology. Artificial intelligence is not just another technology; it has the potential to shape behaviour itself.

Public–Private Collaboration and the New AI Sandbox

During the session, key topics were discussed, including the design of the new AI Sandbox, scheduled to come into force in August 2026. The DGDIA emphasised its intention to develop this framework in close collaboration with the private sector, actively involving companies from the Advisory Board.

She also highlighted the need to strengthen training initiatives and improve the interpretation and application of regulatory frameworks.

Commitment to Responsible AI

DECIDE’s participation in this second Working Group reinforces its commitment to the development of responsible, well-governed and impact-driven artificial intelligence, capable of delivering real value to organisations and to society as a whole.

Both Manuel del Barrio and Begoña López shared DECIDE’s perspective, articulating the real challenges organisations face when applying artificial intelligence in production environments.

At DECIDE, we believe the role of public administration should be to act as an enabler, creating frameworks that allow technological innovation to be translated into real, scalable use cases aligned with the European regulatory landscape. This perspective is grounded in our experience delivering advanced analytics, optimisation and artificial intelligence solutions applied to decision-making across strategic sectors.
