Since we keep on growing and growing and growing…well, we no longer fit in our old office. Ever since I joined Decide they warned me
We’ll soon be moving to a new office!
No sooner said than done, just three months later here we are. In that time our workforce has grown nearly 25%, actually 10 people, and at this rate we either moved or took turns coming in.
Events like these must be celebrated, this growth is the result of days and days of working on software development, of struggling with incidents, of long meetings and everything else that our work entails.
Every three months we meet to learn about the company’s situation, ongoing projects, future outlook, review of our objective …this is called a Synchronisation meeting, we synchronise the information that each one of us has about the company. This may sound like a bore, and of course it could be, but that’s not our style.
Yesterday afternoon we put away all the keyboards, computers, mice and we took out colour cards, markers, glue, scissors and got down to work on the CartonSlides!!
To break the ice we started with an introduction exercise, which was essential since so many people were new recruits. For many it was the first time we were seeing each other. The laughs began right away and they did not end until 5 pm, which is when it all finished, but let’s start at the beginning.
Having broken the ice, Javier Lafuente as General Manager, presented the evolution of Decide in the almost 6 years since the project began, and how we’ve gone from an emerging venture to a completely structured company with corporate departments and experience units, with new business lines, which has grown year to year both in turnover and headcount.
Next, it was Raquel Velasco’s turn, Head of HR. The most important figure she mentioned was the 44 people in the company today, mostly the result of her continuous quest for the best professionals in our area of specialisation. She thanked all those who supported the implementation of the CSR project, “Decide’s humble contribution”, that has come to fruition in the Food Bank project. In the day-to-day operations at Decide, she emphasised the team spirit visible in our projects, which is practically the best thing we have and said that if we had worked like little islands of knowledge we would not have come this far.
The final part of the first round of presentations came from Marketing, which currently focuses on internal and external communications as a way to bring to light the magnificent essence of Decide. And that’s when the fun started, and I’m not just saying it because of Masala’s fantastic catering, now it was time for all the other teams to tell us about their projects for Mapfre, Iberia, Prosegur and to talk about the projected new office.
Between mouthfuls, we worked until 4 pm, and it looked rather more like a Master Chef trial. We all worked very closely around our cards, cutting out dolls from magazines, bringing out all our creativity and we had to hurry, for we were running out of time. The staging… incredible, I hadn’t laughed so hard in a long time. It’s a great idea to describe projects, which are seemingly very arid and technical, in a way we could all understand, with so much humour and wit… It was so well done that we were sorry to see it end, we almost chanted “encore, encore!!!” … we are already thinking about the next time…
